Job summary

RK&K seeks an SOI-qualified architectural historian to lead historic resources work across South Carolina or Georgia. This permanent, full-time role is based in an RK&K office and involves collaboration with architectural historians, archaeologists, and environmental planners.

The Principal Investigator will complete surveys, manage field staff, develop proposals, and advise on Section 106 and NEPA requirements, while drafting Section 106 documents and supporting 4(f) evaluations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation or closely related field.
• Eight to fifteen years of architectural experience in SC or GA.
• Five or more years of architectural project management experience supervising field and technical staff.
• SOI-qualified in architectural history and/or history.
• Expertise with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
• Understanding of NEPA and Section 4(f).
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Completion of historic architectural surveys, context studies, and related services in SC or GA.
• Proposal development.
• Supervision of field staff and QA/QC of reports.
• Advising on Section 106 and regulatory requirements.
• Drafting Section 106 agreement documents.
• Contributing to NEPA documents and 4(f) evaluations.
• Business development and client engagement across the region.
