Job summary

RK&K invites an SOI-qualified archaeological principal investigator to join our Southeast region. The role is permanent and full-time, based in one of RK&K's North Carolina offices.

You will collaborate with archaeologists, architectural historians, and environmental planners across the firm. This position may require travel out of state and entails leading field crews, proposal development, and coordination of Section 106, NEPA, and 4(f) related activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field.
• Eight to fifteen years of archaeological experience in the Southeast.
• Five or more years of field project management experience.
• SOI-qualified in archaeology.
• RPA certification.
• Experience with precontact and historic period research.
• Strong Section 106 and NEPA understanding.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Solid research and communication skills.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of archaeological investigations in the Southeast.
• Develop proposals and supervise field staff.
• Oversee artifact analysis and QA/QC of reports.
• Advise on Section 106 and regulatory requirements for projects.
• Draft 106 agreement documents and contribute to NEPA work.
• Support business development and client outreach.
