Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Secretary of the Interior (SOI)-qualified archaeological principal investigator for the Southeast region. The role is permanent, full-time, based in SC or GA, with travel to out-of-state sites as needed.

The PI will oversee all phases of investigations, supervise field crews, and advise on regulatory compliance for clients and engineers. Strong writing and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
• 8–15 years Southeast archaeological experience.
• 5+ years of field project management experience.
• SOI-qualified in archaeology.
• RPA certification.
• Experience in precontact and historic periods.
• Expertise with Section 106.
• NEPA and Section 4(f) familiarity.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong technical writing and communication.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Experience on DOT projects in SC/GA.
• Background check and valid driver\'s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of archaeological investigations in the Southeast.
• Supervise field staff.
• Oversee artifact analysis and QA/QC of reports.
• Advise on Section 106 compliance to engineers and clients.
• Draft Section 106 agreement documents.
• Contribute to NEPA documents and 4(f) evaluations.
• Assist regional planners with business development and clients.
