Zusammenfassung

RK&K seeks an SOI-qualified architectural historian to serve as a Principal Investigator in the Southeast. The role involves leading historic surveys, project management, and consulting on Section 106 and NEPA matters across North Carolina. Travel will be required.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in architectural history or related field and 8–15 years of NC experience, with strong leadership and reporting skills. This permanent, full-time position offers a hybrid work environment.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation or closely related field.
• Eight to Fifteen years of architectural experience in North Carolina.
• Five+ years of architectural project management experience overseeing surveys and supervising staff.
• SOI-qualification in architectural history and/or history.
• Expertise with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
• Understanding NEPA and Section 4(f) of the USDOT Act.
• Ability to work independently and with a team of historians, archaeologists, environmental planners, and engineers.
• Strong research, technical writing, and communication skills.
• Solid Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience working on North Carolina Department of Transportation projects.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Aufgaben

• Completion of historic architectural surveys, historic context studies, and related services in North Carolina.
• Proposal development.
• Supervision of field staff and QA/QC review of technical reports.
• Advising RK&K engineers and clients on Section 106 compliance.
• Drafting Section 106 agreement documents.
• Contributing to NEPA documents and Section 4(f) evaluations.
• Assisting regional environmental planners with business development and identifying new clients and markets.
• Travel out of state as required.
