Job summary

AV in San Diego seeks a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a software QA, automation, and DevSecOps team, growing people, processes, and tools that verify mission systems software and maintain robust development and test infrastructure.

As a member of the Engineering management team, the Manager defines and executes the team's strategy, budget, staffing, and development, coordinating across software engineering, system test, programs, and information security to reduce software quality risk.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/EE/CE or related or equivalent.
• 10+ years software engineering with quality, automation, or DevOps/CI-CD.
• 2+ years in a supervisory/lead role.
• Experience defining test strategy, automation frameworks, and quality processes.
• Proficient with Git/GitLab, CI pipelines, containers and Linux.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, test, and program teams to drive quality and reduce risk.
• Occasionally travel within the Continental U.S.
• Advanced degree is desired.
• Background in embedded, robotics, UAS, or safety-critical software is a plus.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and lab/test infrastructure is a plus.
• Strong communication across groups.

Responsibilities

• Manages a group of software QA, automation, and DevOps engineers, including budget planning, staffing, training, performance evaluation and career development.
• Defines roles, scope, and ways of working to complement other teams.
• Sets strategy for test coverage, automation frameworks, and CI/CD across programs.
• Establishes and owns QA standards, metrics, and reporting; manages bug reporting and go/no-go release decisions.
• Leads software risk identification, tracking, and mitigation across programs.
• Collaborates across software engineering, system test, programs, and information security.
• Works in an Agile environment coordinating scope, scheduling, and resourcing.
• Interacts with senior management and stakeholders.
