Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and operate the Workforce Insights analytics platform. You will work on Python services, SQL transformations, Airflow workflows, deployment tooling, and BI integrations.

Collaborate with data and HR partners to translate requirements into maintainable code, tests, and releases. The role emphasizes governance, security, and scalability while growing domain knowledge with experienced teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Python or a comparable language, including writing maintainable code and tests.
• 3+ years building or integrating APIs, data workflows, or production systems; understanding interfaces and failure modes.
• 2+ years of experience with BigQuery, SQL data transformations, and ETL tooling.
• 2+ years of Airflow/Cloud Composer and Python for ETL, automation, and data quality.
• 1+ year with an enterprise semantic/BI layer (Superset/Power BI/Tableau/Looker).
• 1+ year of Git, code review, and CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain software features across Python, SQL, and workflow code.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks with data engineers, analysts, and HR partners.
• Participate in code reviews and write automated tests for logic and data contracts.
• Build and maintain BigQuery transformations and models.
• Implement workforce metric definitions in SQL and BI integrations.
• Document changes and obtain definition-owner approval before release.
• Contribute to Superset datasets and dashboard integrations; evaluate APIs, caching, and SSO.
• Develop and maintain Airflow workflows, Python automation, and deployment-related code.
• Follow GitHub Actions release processes across environments; adhere to IAM controls.
• Diagnose defects with logs and tests; contribute fixes and operational documentation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
