Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Software Engineer for Workforce Insights, delivering Python services, SQL transformations, and BI integrations. You will partner with data and HR teams to translate requirements into maintainable code, tests, and releases, while building domain knowledge with experienced teammates.

The role emphasizes governance, security, and scalable analytics pipelines across BigQuery and Superset, with a focus on quality and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years with Python or a comparable language, including tests.
• 3+ years building APIs, data workflows, or production systems.
• 3+ years across application code, data transformations, and operational tooling.
• 2+ years advanced SQL expertise, preferably in BigQuery.
• 2+ years Kimball dimensional modeling.
• 2+ years Airflow or Cloud Composer for ETL.
• 2+ years cloud data platforms (GCP) including BigQuery, IAM.
• 1+ year experience with an enterprise BI layer (Superset, Looker, Power BI, etc.).
• 1+ year Git, code review, and CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions).
• 1+ year tracing data or metric discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate software across Python, SQL, and workflow code.
• Translate product requirements into technical tasks with data engineers, analysts, and HR partners.
• Participate in code reviews and write automated tests for logic, data contracts, and integrations.
• Build and maintain BigQuery transformations and models as part of the product.
• Implement workforce metric definitions in SQL and BI integrations; ensure testability.
• Document changes affecting reported numbers and obtain owner approval before release.
• Contribute to Superset datasets and dashboard integrations; evaluate APIs and SSO features.
• Develop and maintain Airflow workflows and deployment-related code used by the product.
• Follow GitHub Actions release processes across environments and enforce IAM controls.
• Diagnose defects with logs, tests, and system behavior; push fixes and orchestrate releases.
• Keep technical documentation current and help modernize the Workforce Insight stack.
