Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a SOC Operator I to monitor, assess, and respond to security incidents across our hospital system. The role requires coordinating with Security Services Officers, Supervisors, and external agencies in a fast-paced environment.

The position supports 24/7 security operations and ensures safety for patients, staff, and visitors. Shifts are 3:00pm-11:30pm, Wednesday through Sunday, on-site at Northwestern Medicine facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Complete IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire and maintain certification.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Attention to detail for incident documentation and records.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
• Excellent writing skills for reports and paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize incoming calls, emails, and alerts related to security incidents.
• Dispatch security personnel per procedures and protocols.
• Monitor surveillance cameras, access control, and security tech in real time.
• Respond to alarms (intrusion, fire, duress) and initiate response procedures.
• Communicate clearly with security personnel and leadership during incidents.
• Record all incidents and actions using incident management system.
• Assist with enforcing security policies and procedures.
• Provide clear instructions to security staff during crises.
• Relay updates to hospital leadership in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and medical services as needed.
• Escalate high-priority incidents to management.
• Address hardware/software issues and coordinate with vendors.
