Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a SOC Operator I to support 24/7 security operations across our facilities. The role emphasizes monitoring, incident response, and coordination with security teams to safeguard patients, staff, and visitors.

You'll prioritize incidents, dispatch personnel, and maintain detailed records while working within a 40-hour weekly onsite schedule. A strong emphasis on collaboration, safety, and policy adherence guides daily actions.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED is required.
• IAHSS Basic exam completed within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with staff, patients, visitors and agencies.
• Attention to detail for incident documentation and records.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Writing skills for reports and paperwork that meet standards.
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods and operate computers.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays for 24/7 operation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Internet tools.
• Familiarity with surveillance, access control and alarm systems.
• Strong problem-solving and quick decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize calls, emails, and alerts related to security incidents.
• Dispatch security personnel per procedures and protocols.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and access control in real time.
• Respond to alarms (intrusion, fire, duress) and initiate procedures.
• Maintain clear communication with teams and stakeholders during incidents.
• Document all incidents and actions in the incident management system.
• Assist with enforcement of security policies and procedures.
• Provide clear instructions to personnel during critical situations.
• Relay updates to hospital leadership in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with internal and external emergency services for responses.
• Escalate high-priority incidents to management as needed.
• Address hardware/software issues and liaise with vendors/support.
