Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Security Operations Center Operator I for a full-time night shift in Chicago. The role supports a 24/7 SOC, monitors alarms, cameras, and access systems, and coordinates incident response to protect patients, staff, and facilities.

The position offers an hourly wage between $24.29 and $38.67 and onsite work, with a Friday-Tuesday night schedule, 40 hours per week, and eligibility for the organization’s benefits.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for a variety of individuals.
• Attention to detail for incident documentation.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to write reports meeting departmental standards.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods and operate computer equipment.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays in 24/7 operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet.
• Familiarity with surveillance, access control, and alarm systems.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize calls, emails, and alerts related to security incidents.
• Dispatch security personnel per procedures and protocols.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and access control systems in real time.
• Respond to alarms and initiate appropriate procedures.
• Coordinate incident response with stakeholders and leadership.
• Document all incidents and actions in the incident management system.
• Assist with policy enforcement and security procedures.
• Provide clear instructions to security personnel during critical situations.
• Relay timely updates to stakeholders, including leadership.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and medical services as needed.
• Escalate high-priority incidents to management as necessary.
• Address hardware/software issues and collaborate with vendors or IT support.
