Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Security Officer I for the overnight shift 11:00PM-7:30AM to safeguard patients, staff and visitors and to uphold hospital safety standards. Under Security Leadership, duties include patrols, incident investigations, alarms monitoring, and escorting staff as needed.

Responsibilities cover responding to emergencies, reporting incidents, controlling access, and enforcing policies while maintaining a professional, service-minded presence in a demanding healthcare

Qualifications

• Education: High-school diploma or GED required.
• Licensure: Valid driver's license.
• Certification: IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• BLS certification (AHA) within 9 months of hire.
• Defensive Tactics in Healthcare certification within 6 months of hire.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and quells hospital incidents to maintain safety.
• Notifies police and fire and prepares incident reports.
• Patrols perimeters and interiors to protect patients and property.
• Investigates hazardous conditions, theft, and security issues.
• Monitors access control, alarms, and video systems.
• Controls traffic to ensure emergency access.
• Provides staff escorts to vehicles when requested.
• Responds to emergency codes per guidelines.
• Enforces hospital policies and presents a professional image.
