OneAmerica Financial is seeking a Data Engineer to build a modern cloud data platform focused on delivering trusted data quickly and reliably. You will develop scalable pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and Python, while collaborating with analytics, product, and business teams to produce dependable data products.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, data quality, governance, and cost optimization, with opportunities to contribute to architecture and standards in a dynamic insurance data

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or data development.
• Hands-on Snowflake or modern cloud data platform experience.
• Strong SQL skills and data transformation expertise.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, scripting, or automation.
• Experience building or supporting production ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
• Understanding of dimensional modeling and modern data architectures.
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with Git, code review, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines in Snowflake.
• Develop and support ELT workflows using dbt and modern tooling.
• Implement Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion patterns.
• Integrate and transform data from operational systems and third-party platforms.
• Write reusable SQL and Python for data transformation and automation.
• Monitor pipelines, troubleshoot failures, and resolve data quality issues.
• Apply standards for testing, documentation, lineage, and observability.
• Support Snowflake performance and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with analytics, product, and business teams to clarify requirements.
• Contribute to data modeling, governance, and engineering standards.
• Participate in code reviews, releases, and continuous improvement.
