Midwest Railcar seeks a Data Analytics Engineer to design and maintain scalable data infrastructure that powers analytics across the organization. You will bridge raw data ingestion to analytics needs, delivering high-quality, well-documented data models and reliable Snowflake pipelines using dbt.

The role emphasizes data quality, governance, performance optimization, and strong collaboration with analysts and stakeholders to enable data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of analytics engineering or data engineering experience.
• Advanced ANSI-SQL proficiency for querying, transformation, and data infrastructure.
• Snowflake expertise and best practices for data management and processing.
• Strong data modeling skills for analytics structures and data marts.
• dbt proficiency for managing data transformations and models within Snowflake.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.
• Curiosity to understand business problems through data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage data models and ELT/ETL pipelines to transform raw data into structured formats within Snowflake using dbt.
• Create conform and analytics layers that standardize data for business consumption.
• Develop dimensional models and data marts tailored to business requirements.
• Implement data quality, integrity, and governance practices; monitor lineage and definitions.
• Optimize data storage and retrieval; fine-tune SQL queries and pipelines for performance.
• Create and maintain documentation for data models, processes, and metrics; metadata management.
• Use version control and CI/CD for reliable development; enforce testing and automated deployment.
• Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical data solutions.
