Job summary

OneAmerica Financial is seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain a modern cloud data platform. You will implement Snowflake based pipelines, ELT workflows with dbt, and Medallion architecture patterns to deliver trusted datasets for analytics teams.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of data/ software engineering, strong SQL and Python, experience with Snowflake, and familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices. This hybrid Indianapolis role offers growth and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree and 3+ years of data engineering, software engineering, or data development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar modern cloud data platform.
• Strong SQL skills including joins, window functions, transformations, and query troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, scripting, or automation.
• Experience building or supporting production ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation framework.
• Understanding of dimensional modeling and modern data architecture concepts.
• Experience integrating data from multiple source systems.
• Familiarity with Git, code review, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable, reliable, and cost-conscious data pipelines in Snowflake.
• Develop and support ELT workflows using dbt and modern tooling.
• Implement Bronze, Silver, and Gold patterns within Medallion Architecture.
• Integrate and transform data from operational systems and third-party platforms.
• Write reusable SQL and Python for data transformation and automation.
• Monitor pipelines, investigate failures, and resolve data quality issues.
• Apply standards for testing, documentation, lineage, observability, and deployment.
• Support Snowflake performance and cost optimization.
• Partner with analytics, product, and business teams to clarify requirements and deliver trusted datasets.
• Contribute to data modeling, governance, and engineering standards.
• Participate in code reviews, release activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
