Job summary

Lowes Foods, LLC is seeking a Smokehouse Pit Master to lead guest interactions and deliver a brand-aligned experience. You will manage smokehouse activities, demonstrate cooking processes, and ensure top service on the sales floor with a focus on quality and sanitation.

You will engage guests through samples, maintain department standards, and train staff to uphold performance metrics. Candidates should be energetic, customer-focused, and able to lift and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Friendly, energetic and outgoing personality.
• Active guest engagement and willingness to have fun with guests.
• Willingness to perform in front of large crowds for the Smokehouse.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized.
• Ability to stay in character and work well with others.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs consistently and 50 lbs occasionally.
• Previous meat cutting/trimming experience preferred.
• Culinary knowledge or background preferred.
• Ability to read and understand information and direction.
• Experience in deli or meat department operations is helpful.
• Ability to supervise people including training and development.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Strong communication, guest service and selling skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to stand, bend and kneel for extended periods.
• Ability to take direction from supervision and work with computers.

Responsibilities

• Interact with guests and hosts to create an engaging environment.
• Act as the Pit Master with dedication to smoked meats.
• Ensure staff provides fun, friendly service.
• Engage guests through samples and suggestive selling.
• Demonstrate superior guest service at all times.
• Follow the Pit Master performance description.
• Operate the department according to merchandising and operational standards.
• Maintain product quality per Lowes Foods standards.
• Maintain sanitation and safety across the department.
• Provide guidance, orientation, training and feedback to staff.
• Handle product preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking and guest service as needed.
• Maintain HACCP logs as required.
• Perform light meat cutting duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Make PA announcements as required.
