Job summary

Siemens is seeking Smart Building Systems Specialist Interns in the Charlotte, NC area. This internship runs for 10 weeks, offering hands‑on field experience installing, programming, and servicing HVAC automation in commercial buildings, with exposure to sales and project operations.

You will work on job sites with experienced technicians, learn to design solutions that improve building performance and safety, and develop professional skills in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or state‑recognized GED.
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a 2‑year technical program in HVAC/building automation or related field.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for a 10‑week program (May–July or June–August).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Visa options not available.
• Comfortable in dynamic environments (rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, outdoors).
• Hands‑on role using hand tools, laptops, tablets, and other tech to review programs and troubleshoot systems.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Proficient with MS Office; quick to learn new software for automation and control systems.
• Strong documentation and communication skills with customers and team.

Responsibilities

• Spend 80% on field technician experiences on job sites with Siemens technicians installing, programming, and servicing HVAC automation systems.
• Gain 10% sales exposure by working with the sales team and understanding solution design for customers.
• Rotate through service and project operations to learn installation to long‑term maintenance and upgrades.
• Visit customer sites with experienced technicians to troubleshoot and support new installations and system commissioning.
• Collaborate with engineering and project management to resolve discrepancies in drawings and address challenges.
• Document service activities for customers and provide basic training to ensure smooth hand‑off; identify upgrade opportunities.
