Job summary

Siemens is offering a Smart Building Systems Specialist Intern program in the Des Moines area, with options in Kansas City or Omaha. You will spend time in the field on HVAC automation, assist with installation, commissioning, and service tasks, and gain hands-on experience across building systems.

Ideal candidates are pursuing relevant tech degrees, ready for a 40-hour week over ten weeks, and willing to work onsite.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or state-recognized GED.
Students currently enrolled in or recently completed a 2-year technical program pursuing HVAC/building automation or related field.
Able to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week program (May–July or June–August).
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for this program.

Responsibilities

80% Field Technician Experience: on job sites learning HVAC automation and building systems.
10% Sales Exposure: observe how Siemens engages customers and designs solutions.
10% Project & Service Operations: rotate with service and project delivery teams.
Visit customer sites to troubleshoot HVAC and control systems and assist in installations.
Collaborate with engineering/project management to resolve drawings discrepancies.
Document service activities and provide basic training for smooth hand-off to customers.
