Job summary

Scholar Rock, Inc. is seeking a patient journey expert to serve as the ROCC, delivering education and comprehensive care coordination for SMA patients and families.

You will bridge communication between patients, caregivers, healthcare teams and advocacy groups to address non-clinical barriers and support access and affordability. You will lead with empathy, provide tailored education and resources, and collaborate with internal teams to improve patient experience across the treatment journey.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in pharma/biotech patient support, account management, reimbursement, HUB/patient services or market access.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary contact for patients and caregivers, providing education on disease state, therapy options, access pathways and available support services.
• Oversee access coordination: affordability programs, benefit verifications, prior authorization, site-of-care logistics, ensuring timely therapy initiation and adherence.
• Deliver personalized patient care with tailored education and resources; provide in-person support at treatment centers when needed.
• Collaborate with Sales, Field Reimbursement, Advocacy, Marketing to enhance patient experience and align program operations.
• Coordinate with care coordinators, infusion sites, and office staff to address access challenges and provide resources.
• Monitor payer landscapes, regulatory shifts, and market trends to anticipate challenges and communicate updates.
• Build networks through advocacy groups and rare disease events and national conferences.
• Maintain understanding of patient/community needs and national access dynamics to support regional education and assistance.
• Adhere to HIPAA, FDA, OIG guidelines and document adverse events and product complaints.
