Job summary

AbleLight seeks an SLS Instructor to provide one-on-one instruction that promotes independence and community integration in Fremont, CA. The role advocates for individuals and builds strong relationships to maximize successful outcomes.

Responsibilities include employment preparation, communication training, mobility, education, money management, self-help, safety, emergency readiness, and resource navigation, all under supervision and with a person-centered approach.

Qualifications

• 6 months direct supervision with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply general regulations.
• Ability to write legible, accurate notes on goals and objectives.
• Ability to present information clearly to consumers and stakeholders.
• English fluency; other languages as needed by individuals.
• Must have a cell phone for management communications and payroll duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one instruction to encourage independence and community integration.
• Support employment preparation, including resumes, applications and interviews.
• Assist with communication devices and accessibility tools for individuals.
• Train in mobility, education, money management, and self-help skills.
• Promote personal safety, crisis response, and emergency readiness.
• Facilitate access to public transportation and community resources.
• Support health, nutrition, and medication management under supervision.
• Assist with daily living skills and environment safety.
• Help individuals advocate for themselves and exercise rights.
• Assist with Medi-Cal, SSI and appointment scheduling where applicable.
