Job summary

AbleLight in Fremont, CA seeks a dedicated SLS Instructor to provide one-on-one instruction and support individuals toward higher independence and successful community integration. You will serve as advocate and liaison, building strong relationships with those supported.

Responsibilities include employment prep, communication and mobility training, education support, budgeting, personal care, safety, emergency preparedness, health and nutrition guidance, and helping access public resources.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general regulations.
• Ability to effectively communicate with consumers, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one instruction to promote independence.
• Assist with employment preparation including resumes and interviews.
• Teach communication skills and use of devices.
• Support mobility and accessing public transportation.
• Assist with education, class enrollment and attendance.
• Assist with budgeting, shopping and money handling.
• Support personal care and basic hygiene tasks.
• Promote safety, emergency preparedness and correct use of 911.
