Job summary

Bethesda seeks an SLS Instructor to provide one-on-one instruction and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting independence and community integration. You will advocate for the individuals and collaborate with families and care teams to maximize outcomes across daily living skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Finger print/criminal clearance and TB screening
• First aid/CPR certification required
• Experience with developmental disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to support employment readiness and resume building
• Assist in communication skills using devices and through phone/computer
• Train mobility to access public transportation
• Support education enrollment, attendance and assignments
• Teach money management and budgeting basics
• Supervise self-care and dressing for weather and environment
• Promote community resource access and safety across settings
• Support health/nutrition and medication follow-up (SLS does not medicate)
• Provide safety training and emergency preparedness guidance
• Foster living options and advocacy skills
