Job summary

SRS Distribution seeks an ambitious intern to gain hands-on exposure across warehouse operations, sales, finance, safety, and HR. You’ll learn our business model, culture, and core values while transitioning into a civilian career through structured on-the-job training.

You will rotate through branches, learn to use WMS and vendor portals, and support daily logistics, procurement, and customer service. Local travel is limited; no overnight travel required.

Qualifications

• Active-duty service member eligible for DoD SkillBridge or approved military internship program.
• 180 days or fewer remaining on active duty at program start.
• Approval from Chain of Command.
• Pay Grade E5 and above.
• Some college or vocational training in logistics is preferred.
• Military training in logistics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support safety and OSHA compliance, PPE usage, and forklift safety protocols.
• Assist with warehouse logistics: inventory control, cycle counting, stock rotation, order fulfillment.
• Operate material handling equipment and manage loading/unloading per distribution guidelines.
• Receive, inspect, and store materials with accurate records.
• Use WMS and internal tools to track inventory, shipments, and safety compliance.
• Conduct daily/weekly inspections and document results per DOT/company standards.
• Assist routing, delivery scheduling, and GPS tools.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and DVIRs; ride-along with CDL drivers.
• Process purchase orders, vendor receiving docs, and branch transfers.
• Monitor unbilled orders, backorders, APPO variances, and supplier disputes.
• Participate in daily cash reconciliation and support financial operations for branches.
• Deliver customer service via counter sales, order entry, calls, and walk-ins.
• Learn pricing models and impact of overrides on profitability.
• Build product knowledge and assist vendor relationship management.
