Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in Lompoc, CA is seeking an entry-level Site Supervisor for a part-time, day-shift position at the Lompoc Family YMCA. You will help plan, supervise, and implement childcare programs including before- and after-school care, summer camp, and school-break activities.

Qualifications include being at least 21 years old, a high school diploma or equivalent, and two years’ experience in childcare. You must obtain required certifications within two weeks to two months of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years’ experience working in a childcare setting.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position trainings within two weeks of hire.
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance.
• Maintain a valid California driver’s license and driving record.
• Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to first day.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs (Before-School, After-School, Summer Camp, and School Break Care).
• Supervise up to 14 children independently; up to 20 with guidelines; up to 28 with staff.
• Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive).
• Ensure a safe environment for all children to thrive.
• Guide behaviors using positive methods and address individual needs.
• Carry out activities and lesson plans.
• Ensure the program delivers HEPA standards.
• Set up and cleanup of the program area (vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal).
• Assist the Program Director in planning and administration of the program.
• Assist in staff training, guidance, evaluation, and corrective actions.
• Maintain school relationships and conduct monthly meetings with administration.
• Meet enrollment goals and maintain budgeted expense controls.
• Meet program quality expectations as shown by surveys, observations, and audits.
• Ensure accurate enrollment and attendance procedures.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Two years’ experience in childcare

Must obtain required certifications within 60 days of hire

Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance

Valid California driver's license and DMV pull program participation

Health Screening and TB test prior to first day

What does a Site Supervisor do?

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs(Before-School, After-School, Summer Camp, and School Break Care) in accordance with guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
• Supervise up to 14 children independently under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or 20 children in accordance with guidelines from California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
• If applicable, supervise an Assistant or Associate Teacher with up to 28 children under the guidelines from the State of California Community Care Licensing
• Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive)
• Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive
• Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs
• Carry out activities and lesson plans
• Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards
• Set up and cleanup of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc
• Assist the Program Director in the planning and administration of the program
• Assist in selecting, training, guiding, evaluating, and employee corrective actions for staff
• Responsible for maintaining school relationships, including monthly meetings with administration
• Meeting attendance, enrollment goals, and maintain financial controls of budgeted expenses
• Meet program quality expectations as evident on surveys, observations, and audits
• Ensure accurate enrollment and attendance procedures are followed

Qualifications:

California Community Care Licensing

• Must possess a minimum of 12 units of Child Development or related field and 3 units in Administration. A waiver may be submitted to allow for the Administration course to be completed in the first year of employment (or approved Community Care Licensing alternative)

California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs

• Must possess 48 college units; or
• Associate’s Degree; or
• Pass a District-selected assessment demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
