Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA seeks an Assistant Site Supervisor to support planning, supervision, and delivery of before/after-school and camp programs in alignment with California licensing and DOE guidelines.

You will supervise children, ensure safety, and foster positive behavior while delivering HEPA-compliant activities and efficient enrollment/attendance procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• 1 year of experience in a childcare setting.
• California Community Care Licensing requires 12+ units in Child Development and 3 units in Administration (waiver may allow completion in first year).
• California DOE Expanded Learning Opportunities requires 48 college units or an Associate’s Degree.
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance.
• Health Screening and TB test required before start date.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs (Before-School, After-School, Summer Camp, and School Break Care).
• Supervise up to 14 children independently, or up to 20 with DOE guidelines.
• Provide quality, safe care and positive behavior guidance.
• Create a safe environment and support healthy eating and physical activity (HEPA).
• Assist in staff training and enrollment/attendance procedures.

What does an Assistant Site Supervisor Do?

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs (Before-School, After-School, Summer Camp, and School Break Care) in accordance with guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
• Supervises up to 14 children independently under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or 20 children in accordance with guidelines from California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
• If applicable, supervises an Assistant or Associate Teacher with up to 28 children under the guidelines from the State of California Community Care Licensing
• Provides quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive)
• Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive
• Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs
• Carry out activities and lesson plans
• Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards
• Set up and clean-up of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc
• Assist the Site Supervisor in the planning and administration of the program
• Assist in selecting training and providing guidance to staff
• Ensures accurate enrollment and attendance procedures are followed

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old
• 1 year of experience working in a childcare setting
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• California Community Care Licensing Requirement: Must possess a minimum of 12 units of Child Development or related field and 3 units in Administration. A waiver may be submitted to allow for the Administration course to be completed in the first year of employment (or approved Community Care Licensing alternative) or
• California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs Requirement: Must possess 48 college units or an Associate’s Degree
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance
• Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to first day of employment
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire
