Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in Paso Robles, CA seeks a Site Supervisor to plan, supervise, and implement before/after school, summer camp, and related programs. You will ensure safety, provide engaging activities, and meet licensing guidelines while supporting staff and maintaining enrollment targets.

The role requires experience in childcare settings, required certifications within 60 days, and ability to supervise up to 14 children (20 with certain programs).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years’ experience working in a childcare setting.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings within two weeks of hire.
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance.
• Maintain a valid California driver’s license, DMV Pull Program participation, and acceptable driving record.
• Health Screening Report and negative TB test prior to first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs in line with CA licensing and ELOP standards.
• Supervise up to 14 children independently (20 with program guidelines) and up to 28 with staff guidance.
• Provide quality care and supervision to children with a safe environment to thrive.
• Carry out activities and lesson plans; ensure HEPA standards are met.
• Assist the Program Director in planning and administering the program.
• Help select, train, guide, evaluate staff and address corrective actions.
• Maintain school relationships, attend monthly meetings, and monitor enrollment/budget controls.
• Meet program quality expectations as evidenced by surveys, observations, and audits.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

12 units of Child Development or related field

3 units in Administration

Associate’s Degree or higher

Pass a District-selected assessment (reading/writing/math)

What does a Site Supervisor do?

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs(Before-School, After-School, Summer Camp, and School Break Care) in accordance with guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
• Supervise up to 14 children independently under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or 20 children in accordance with guidelines from California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
• If applicable, supervise an Assistant or Associate Teacher with up to 28 children under the guidelines from the State of California Community Care Licensing
• Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive)
• Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive
• Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs
• Carry out activities and lesson plans
• Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards
• Set up and cleanup of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc
• Assist the Program Director in the planning and administration of the program
• Assist in selecting, training, guiding, evaluating, and employee corrective actions for staff
• Responsible for maintaining school relationships, including monthly meetings with administration
• Meeting attendance, enrollment goals, and maintain financial controls of budgeted expenses
• Meet program quality expectations as evident on surveys, observations, and audits
• Ensure accurate enrollment and attendance procedures are followed

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old

California Community Care Licensing

• Must possess a minimum of 12 units of Child Development or related field and 3 units in Administration. A waiver may be submitted to allow for the Administration course to be completed in the first year of employment (or approved Community Care Licensing alternative)

California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs

• Must possess 48 college units; or
• Associate’s Degree; or
• Pass a District-selected assessment demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
