Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Safety professional to lead Environmental Health & Safety on a single construction project in the Des Moines area. You will enforce policies, train teams on safe work practices, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in safety/engineering, CHST certification, OSHA 30, and strong leadership. Travel to project sites is required to support safety initiatives and incident prevention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field.
• CHST certification required or within 2 years of appointment.
• Completed OSHA 30-hour training and maintain First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED certifications.
• Knowledgeable of Federal, State, and local EH&S regulations.
• Ability to identify known and potential safety exposures and lead corrective actions.
• Familiar with general construction operations.
• Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel; access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and enforce EH&S on a single construction project.
• Manage time and resource allocation and provide safety leadership.
• Assess project safety practices and develop action plans to mitigate risks.
• Communicate requirements for improving performance to project leadership and teams.
• Promote safe work practices and compliance with regulations.
• Develop training for project site-specific needs.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Conduct safety audits and issue reports for violations and unsafe practices.
• Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
