Job summary

Bohler’s West Hartford, CT office seeks a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience on real-site design projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D from concept to construction.

You will learn the land development stages, collaborate with engineers and project managers, observe field conditions, and contribute to design and permitting of commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to work both independently and with a team.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred; training provided if not yet proficient.

Responsibilities

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
• Enhance technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept plans, grading plans, stormwater, utilities, and erosion/sediment control plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
