Job summary

Bohler in Herndon, VA is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience on real site design projects. You will work alongside engineers, designers, and project managers to learn the land development process from concept through construction, using AutoCAD Civil 3D for concept, grading, and utility plans.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Civil/Environmental/Biosystems Engineering Bachelor's or Master's program.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and with teams.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (training provided).
• Curiosity and motivation to learn in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Interest in civil site design and land development.

Responsibilities

• Experience day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn stages of land development and site design process.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept plans, grading, and site utilities.
• Assist in stormwater, soil erosion, and sediment control plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to move projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and engineering processes.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute design improvements.
