Job summary

Bohler’s Ridgewood, NJ office seeks a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) to learn the full site development process from concept to construction, collaborating with engineers, designers, and project managers.

As a Summer 2027 intern, you will gain hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D while supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed‑use developments, with mentorship and exposure to real client work.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred; training provided if not yet proficient).

Responsibilities

• Experience the day‑to‑day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
• Enhance technical skills with hands‑on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept and grading plans, stormwater, utilities, and erosion control.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and participate in team meetings.
