Job summary

Bohler's West Hartford, CT office seeks a Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain real-world site design experience. You will work with engineers, designers, and PMs, applying AutoCAD Civil 3D on concepts, grading, stormwater, utilities, and erosion control plans.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred; training provided if not yet proficient).
• Curiosity and motivation to learn within a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Interest in civil site design, land development, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Experience the day‑to‑day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
• Enhance your technical skills with hands‑on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design: Concept plans, Grading plans, Stormwater management plans, Utility system plans, Soil erosion and sediment control plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements.
