Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose, CA, seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Simulation Infrastructure team building high-performance physics-based simulations for mission design and operations. You will mentor engineers and data analysts and align roadmaps with broader Muon priorities in a hybrid on-site role.

You will collaborate with architects and leaders, deliver scalable tools, and drive metrics, staffing, and growth.

Qualifications

BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
5+ years of software engineering and 3+ years managing software engineering teams delivering production systems.
Experience delivering physical simulations and data analytics programs.
Strong cross-functional communication skills.
Experience with languages such as C++, Python, TypeScript, or Julia.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor software engineers and scientists who build numerical modelling infrastructure and perform data analysis.
Develop and align a multidisciplinary team roadmap with Muon priorities.
Guide execution of foundational projects to understand performance of complex space systems.
Develop and track quality and performance metrics for mission-critical systems.
Collaborate with leadership to architect scalable organizational processes.
Manage team capacity, staffing, and growth including hiring and performance development.
Provide leadership that is aligned with the company’s values in a fast-growing workplace.
