Job summary

Muon Space, Inc. in San Jose, CA is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead the Simulation Infrastructure team, building high-performance space-system simulations.

You will grow people, processes, and technical capabilities, collaborating with architects and senior engineers to deliver scalable, physics-based modeling and analytics.

This hybrid role requires on-site work three days per week and offers equity and comprehensive benefits aligned with Muon’s mission.

Qualifications

• BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years managing software engineering teams building production systems.
• Experience delivering physics-based simulations and data analytics programs.
• Domain expertise applying physics-based modeling to design, implement, behavior, and testing of complex hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers and scientists who build critical numerical modelling infrastructure, and perform comprehensive data analysis.
• Work with partners to synthesize a roadmap aligned with Muon’s priorities.
• Guide execution of foundational projects to understand performance of complex space systems.
• Develop and track quality and performance metrics to drive improvements.
• Collaborate with leadership to architect long-term organizational processes.
• Manage team capacity, staffing, and growth including hiring and performance development.
• Be a voice of responsible and compassionate leadership in a fast-growing workplace.
