Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Production/Plant Manager for our California facility to supervise production operations and coordinate with Engineering, QA, and Logistics to meet codes and QA requirements. The role will manage staffing, safety, and fabrication scheduling to ensure timely, compliant manufacturing of equipment.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, 10+ years in industrial management (preferred in welding shop fabrication), and

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
• Ten years of Industrial/ Manufacturing management experience, preferably in welding shop fabrication/manufacturing and equipment assembly
• Well-versed on ASME Process Piping and Pressure Vessel requirements
• Understanding of P&ID and fabrication drawings
• Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and distribution
• Ability to analyze costs and benefits and choose the best action
• Ability to identify complex problems and evaluate options
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals
• Willingness to work in a noisy environment with dust, fumes, and heat
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
• Primary responsibilities performed in the shop manufacturing facility

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate production operations and operating workers, including floor operations and production control
• Interface with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Logistics to ensure drawings, materials, and QA requirements are implemented in accordance with applicable codes
• Coordinate workload and ensure materials are available for the production team to fabricate equipment
• Direct staffing, including hiring and terms of all staff and direct personnel
• Ensure a safe work environment
• Plan and coordinate fabrication schedules with shop leads
• Resolve production time, turf, and job scope issues and conflicts
• Decide shift and overtime issues
• Participate in employee discipline actions
• Review material requirements and ensure materials are available to complete projects
• Review drawings and resolve issues or conflicts with Engineering and QA Departments
• Coordinate QA requirements and schedule NDT and other required inspections according to applicable codes
• Prepare and submit proposals for capital expenditures
• Manage the physical plant and security for all departments
• Establish workflow, make-buy, and work rule policies
• Provide management with reports on production operations
• Provide the controller with information for rate determination and cash flow projections

• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods


• Ability to analyze relative costs and benefits of potential actions and choose the most appropriate


• Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
