Job summary

Potbelly Corporate in Fort Worth, TX seeks a General Manager to lead all shop operations, develop the team, and drive sales while upholding food safety and quality standards.

The role requires at least 2 years GM experience and a food safety certification; offers base salary $60k-$65k with bonus potential, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible schedule.

You will spend most time on the shop floor, manage P&L, and engage with the local community to grow the business.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 2+ years GM experience in a restaurant or retail environment with P&L responsibility preferred.
• Must pass and maintain Food Safety Certification in state.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Problem-solving mindset and adaptability.
• Open availability to work multiple shifts.
• Maintain deadlines and prioritize while running shifts.
• Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment; knife skills a plus.
• Able to manage allergens (peanuts, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, shellfish).
• Strong interviewing skills for staffing.
• Ability to write effective schedules and meet labor goals.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Strong business acumen and ability to interpret financial reports.
• Able to stand/walk 8–9 hours; willing to work 45+ hours per week.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and develop all shop team members to realize their potential.
• Assess staff abilities; create and implement development plans.
• Interview, select and hire great people who represent Potbelly values.
• Develop and maintain Good Vibes culture that fosters attraction & retention.
• Effectively schedule associates, certified trainers and shift leaders.
• Update communication board with critical shop information.
• Hold regular meetings with key shop staff.
• Delegate tasks to team and ensure high standard of execution.
• Ensure all security procedures are followed.
• Ensure back-of-house procedural standards are met.
• Count drawers and follow cash handling procedures.
• Drive neighborhood marketing and promotions to maximize sales.
• Control cost of goods, variances and inventories; lead local shop marketing.
• Lead community involvement; maintain P&L control.
• Spend 80-90% of time on shop floor in Front of the House.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Handle customer complaints/issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
