Job summary

Potbelly Corporate in Des Plaines, IL, is seeking a General Manager to lead daily shop operations, coach teams, and drive sales with strong P&L ownership. The role requires food safety compliance, staff development, and hands-on leadership across front- and back-of-house activities.

The GM will manage scheduling, budgeting, marketing initiatives, and community engagement to foster a high-energy, customer-first culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years as a General Manager in a restaurant or retail environment with P&L responsibility.
• You meet all Food Safety requirements and can obtain a Food Safety Certification.
• You can lead a fast-paced, customer-first environment with strong communication.
• You can write schedules and manage labor goals, and interpret financial reports.

• Train, coach, and develop shop team members to realize their potential.
• Interview, select and hire great people who represent Potbelly values.
• Develop and maintain Good Vibes culture that fosters attraction & retention.
• Effectively schedule associates, trainers and shift leaders.
• Delegate tasks to ensure high standards of execution.
• Drive neighborhood shop marketing and promotions to maximize sales.
• Control costs, variances and inventories within the shop.
• Lead local shop marketing and community engagement.
