Job summary

RR Donnelley is hiring a Packaging Specialist for 1st shift to support shipping, receiving and materials handling. The role ensures customer product packaging meets specifications and SLAs, with daily responsibilities spanning order preparation, carrier shipments, and document control.

The position requires at least 2 years in shipping operations, basic IT literacy, and the ability to operate forklifts and lifting equipment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of Administrative/operational support in shipping/manufacturing operations.
• Able to apply policies, procedures, regulations and program objectives.
• Knowledge of information systems including materials tracking, storage and retrieval systems, inventory control, reporting systems (spreadsheets, databases).
• Basic computer skills with software programs.
• Good oral and written communication across departments.
• Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines.
• Ability to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (forklift).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities of shipping department: materials movement, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling and shipping printed product.
• Handle shipments via FedEx, UPS, USPS and similar carriers, prepare shipments according to customer specs and SLAs.
• Receive materials: unload trucks, check against bills of lading, packing slips; maintain records of goods received.
• Support manufacturing areas per standard procedures and maintain required files and documentation.
• Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) to stage materials and load trucks.
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, customer service, and production.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure proper handling, storage and shipping cost efficiency.
• Assist management with departmental activities, training, safety and special projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality policies and procedures.
