Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. seeks a Shipping Supervisor to lead the shipping team, scheduling, prioritizing, and coordinating shipments with precision. You will collaborate with scheduling and corporate teams to ensure accurate billing and smooth inventory reconciliation.

You will manage labor and pallet costs, monitor Chep usage, and adjust stock levels while enforcing safety standards across the operation. Travel up to 5% may be required, and you will mentor hourly staff to achieve high performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
• Experience leading teams through training, coaching, or project management.
• Forklift, electric pallet jack and spotter tractor licenses required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to motivate and coach staff to peak performance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shipping crew, ensuring efficient loading, scheduling, and prioritization of shipments.
• Review shipments, handle invoicing, and prepare/distribute inventory adjustment reports to Accounting.
• Track labor, pallet costs, and Chep usage; adjust warehouse inventories as needed.
• Conduct weekly safety inspections, monitor forklift operation, and perform yard checks for trailers and fuel consumption.
• Direct hourly shipping/receiving employees and provide guidance on safety and department goals.
