Kelly Services is seeking a reliable Temporary Shipper/Receiver I with forklift experience to support warehouse and distribution center operations. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping materials accurately and safely.
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating warehouse equipment, using computer systems and barcode scanners, completing shipping and receiving paperwork, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Load and unload delivery trucks and work with freight carriers.
Review bills of lading, packing lists, and other receiving documents.
Check incoming materials against documentation for accuracy.
Receive products into the warehouse management or inventory system using barcode scanners or computers.
Sort materials and place products in the correct storage areas or zones.
Operate forklifts, order pickers, turret trucks, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
Break down and organize floor-loaded containers.
Report damaged or inaccurate shipments to the appropriate supervisor.
Pick products for customer orders, manufacturing orders, and sample requests.
Use barcode scanners, pick tickets, shipping documents, and warehouse equipment.
Perform bin location audits, unit-load transfers, and carton transfers.
Weigh or hand-count products to ensure order accuracy.
Verify quantities and product information before moving items to the next stage.
Review packing instructions in the inventory or warehouse management system.
Pack products according to customer and company requirements.
Complete special packaging and apply required labels.
Follow applicable packaging specifications.
Identify hazardous or flammable materials and prepare them for shipment according to established procedures.
Prepare cartons and pallet loads for shipment.
Attach shipment and carrier documentation to packages and pallets.
Secure unit-load shipments using stretch wrap or banding.
Prepare manifests and bills of lading.
Verify carton counts against the shipment staged for delivery.
Coordinate carrier pickups as needed.
Load and unload cartons from pallets, carts, or conveyors using forklifts and pallet jacks.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
Recycle wooden pallets and dispose of damaged pallets properly.
Assist with trash removal, cart distribution, and other general warehouse duties.
Follow all safety, security, emergency, and operating procedures.
Identify damaged products requiring quality inspection or repacking.
Report discrepancies to the shift supervisor.
Participate in team efforts and suggest ways to improve warehouse performance.
High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of relevant warehouse, shipping, receiving, or distribution center experience.
Forklift experience is required
Basic computer skills.
Ability to accurately complete paperwork and inventory records.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet when using approved warehouse equipment.
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Experience with SAP or another warehouse management system.
Experience using barcode scanners or laser scanners.
Familiarity with shipping documents, bills of lading, manifests, and packing lists.
Experience operating order pickers, turret trucks, electric pallet jacks, or manual pallet jacks.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and material handling.
Ability to safely operate powered warehouse equipment.
