Job summary

Serco is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Assembler to support U.S. Navy shipboard installations in Norfolk, VA. The role requires 5+ years in power-tool-based fabrication, shipboard experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

You will work on electromechanical assemblies, follow blueprints, and maintain safety on site. Site work includes potential second/third shifts and up to 10% travel to other shipyards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance and access shipyards/BIs.
• Must obtain OSHA and respirator qualifications.
• Forklift certification required.
• 5+ years using power tools and fabricating large/intricate assemblies.
• 5+ years shipboard experience; read drawings/blueprints.
• Willing to travel up to 10% and work second/third shifts.
• Background check and drug screening required.
• Firewatch and Cable Installer certifications beneficial.
• Safety-focused with ability to work in high heat spaces.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble electromechanical and electronic assemblies from drawings.
• Maintain equipment via preventive maintenance and report malfunctions.
• Work on U.S. Naval Ships and installations with attention to safety.
• Follow blueprints and assembly drawings; coordinate with senior staff.
• Operate light machinery and assist with layout of cables and pipe sections.
• Travel to various work sites as needed (up to 10%).
