Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Assembler to support U.S. Naval Ships in Norfolk, VA.

You will fabricate and assemble complex electromechanical systems from blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with a team to ensure safety and quality in challenging environments. Required are a high school diploma, ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance, shipyard access, OSHA and respirator qualifications, and 5+ years’ shipboard experience with power tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• The ability to obtain access to shipyards and pass a drug screening.
• The ability to obtain OSHA certification.
• The ability to get respirator qualified and wear PPE.
• The ability to obtain Forklift certification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience using power tools and assembling complex assemblies.
• The ability to obtain Firewatch and Cable Installer certification.
• Minimum 5 years of Shipboard Experience in a related field.
• Ability to read drawings, drill holes, cut metal, torque with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Follow blueprints, diagrams, and guidelines to assemble electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
• Maintain equipment by performing preventive maintenance and reporting malfunctions.
• Work with standard practices and procedures; use limited experience to plan goals.
• Work aboard U.S. Naval Ships and installations with exposure to drafts and noise.
• Ensure safety and proper PPE to prevent injuries.
• Collaborate with customers and Serco team members to deliver high-technology systems.
