Potbelly Sandwich Works in Highland Park, IL is seeking a Shift Leader to guide a busy shift with a customer-first mindset. You will supervise associates, ensure product quality and service, and help control costs while maintaining a fast-paced, friendly environment.

The role requires at least 18 years old with 1 year of supervisory experience in food service or retail, and completion of state food safety certification. This position offers several benefits and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment preferred.
• Must pass Food Safety Certification within your state.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Able to stand for 8–9 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Illinois applicants must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead team on shifts, assign tasks efficiently and provide feedback.
• Ensure security procedures and back-of-house standards are followed.
• Count drawers and balance cash handling procedures.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, etc.).
• Restock food line, chips and cooler; maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Handle customer complaints professionally.
• Operate cash register and follow cash handling procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
