Potbelly Sandwich Works in Westmont, IL is seeking a Shift Leader to lead teams across day, afternoon, and night shifts. The role offers part-time hours with a focus on customer service, cash handling, food preparation, and safety compliance.

You will ensure smooth shifts, manage resources, and uphold Potbelly’s standards in a bustling kitchen environment. Required are 18+ years of age, 1 year supervisory experience, and a Food Safety Certification within IL.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment preferred.
• Must pass and obtain a Food Safety Certification.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Enjoy problem-solving.
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment; knife skills are a plus.
• Able to manage allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
• Able to stand/walk for 8-9 hours or as needed; able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members on shifts and assign tasks with feedback.
• Ensure all security procedures are followed.
• Maintain back-of-house procedural standards.
• Count drawers and follow daily cash handling procedures.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream) efficiently.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Restock food line, chips and cooler.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register and balance cash handling procedures.
• Handle customer complaints/issues effectively.
• Other duties as assigned.
