Job summary

Pollo Tropical in the United States is seeking a Team Leader in Training (TLIT) to gain hands-on experience in restaurant operations, supporting food safety, guest service, labor and team engagement while working with the leadership team to learn shift leadership.

The TLIT will coach hourly team members, participate in pre-shift huddles, help with scheduling and inventory, and practice decision-making in a fast-paced environment, aiming to develop into a shift supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of restaurant experience, preferably in a team support or leadership role.
• Familiarity with Outlook, HRIS platforms and internal tools preferred.
• Strong verbal and written English communication.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly team members during shifts to ensure quality, efficiency and guest service.
• Plan and oversee shift responsibilities while learning safety and sanitation procedures.
• Support team engagement through coaching, communication, and motivation.
• Attend daily pre-shift huddles to align on goals, standards and priorities.
• Model guest service standards and resolve guest concerns with urgency.
• Maintain compliance, assist with cleanliness and equipment upkeep.
• Assist scheduling, inventory checks, and cash handling procedures.
• Shadow leadership during training and onboarding activities.
• Develop problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
• Follow policies and perform other duties as assigned.
