Job summary

Smashburger is seeking a Shift Leader for our Dayton, OH location to champion better burgers through strong team leadership, service excellence, and food-safety compliance.

You will train teammates using SmashConnect, LMS, and a four-step method, monitor performance, and support daily operations. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required, with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate people management skills to lead restaurant teams

• Proven customer service mindset and ability to coach others
• Rigorous attention to details and adherence to standards

Responsibilities

• Manage the performance of both FOH & BOH employees
• Promote a fun and positive work environment
• Manage the effectiveness of people focused processes and systems
• Provide initial and ongoing training to all employees using SmashConnect, LMS, and 4 step method of training
• Reward and recognises employee performance that exceeds company standards
• Manage daily operations checklists, line checks, and uniform standards
• Oversee safety, cash handling, and loss prevention procedures
• Ensure guest experience metrics (NPS/OSAT) are met and food safety standards followed
• Demonstrate Smashburger service standards to employees and guests
• Lead onboarding and training for new hires
• Follow COGS and food ordering procedures to control costs
• Manage daily labor and scheduling requirements
• Complete train-the-trainer program within 90 days
• Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Adhere to Smashburger uniform standards and policy compliance
• Communicate effectively with management and teams
• Develop and coach restaurant staff to improve performance
• Maintain high attention to detail and organizational skills
• Be self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work in high temperatures
