Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Lead Monitor I to coordinate and supervise the Monitors, ensuring safety for clients, staff, and visitors. The role includes safety training, incident reporting, and hands-on supervision of patrols and entrances.

Responsibilities include shift planning, training, shelter safety, bag screening, and occasional driving of participants when licensed. A fingerprint clearance and background checks are required to start.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• One year in security, social services, or customer service.
• CA driver's license with clean driving record preferred.
• Ability to perform under emotional stress in a shelter setting.

Responsibilities

• Assign shifts and supervise Monitors; train staff on safety procedures.
• Maintain shelter safety, monitor entrances, and enforce rules.
• Screen bags and persons entering shelter; patrol premises.
• Drive licensed Monitors to program locations when required.
• Complete written reports and incident logs daily.
