Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Lead Monitor I to coordinate, supervise and mentor the Monitors ensuring program safety and security. The role includes providing safety training, overseeing shelter operations, and supervising entry points to protect clients, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities include shift scheduling, safety leadership, and reporting; driving tasks may be required for licensed personnel. VOALA emphasizes on-site presence and strong regard for client well-being.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• One year of college coursework or C4C certification as substitute.
• One year of security, social services, or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign shifts and supervise Monitors around the clock.
• Train Monitors in safety, security operations, and procedures.
• Oversee safety practices, patrol, and monitor shelter entrances and bags.
• Lead and mentor staff; complete written reports and incident logs.
• Drive tasks if licensed and transport participants as needed.
