Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Lead Monitor I to coordinate, supervise, and mentor the Monitor team, ensuring safety for clients and staff on program premises. Driving ability is preferred and training will be provided to maintain security standards.

The role involves shift planning, safety oversight, and incident reporting in a no-profit environment that prioritizes vulnerable populations. On-site work with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• One year of proven college coursework, or completion of Careers for a Cause (C4C) or other homeless training course with a certificate.
• Within 30 days of hire, must successfully complete VOALA safety training.
• Must timely complete all mandated training.
• One year of security, human services, or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign shifts and schedule Monitors around the clock.
• Train Monitors in safety and security procedures.
• Oversee safety practices and provide leadership.
• Monitor Shelter entrance and authorize access to protect participants.
• Screen bags and persons entering shelter to ensure safety.
• Patrol premises and report security issues as needed.
• Maintain logs and write incident reports.
• Support clients/participants and provide driving tasks if licensed.
