Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Program Supervisor to lead Shelter Monitors and manage operations of a 24/7 men's homeless shelter.

You will supervise up to 14–24 staff, schedule shifts, conduct rounds, coach staff, coordinate with security and partners, and ensure compliance with agency policies and 801 East program rules. This role emphasizes professional development and timely incident reporting, with an on-site schedule.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 2 years direct service experience with the adult homeless or other vulnerable population.
• 3 years administrative and functional supervision of at least 5 subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Functionally supervise a team of Shelter Monitors on an 8-hour shift for a 24/7 shelter with ~250 clients.
• Create work schedules and assign tasks to keep the facility properly staffed at all times.
• Meet with the oncoming shift supervisor and tour areas to note discrepancies.
• Accompany each Shelter Monitor on rounds to observe performance and coach as needed.
• Visit each Shelter Monitor post every two hours to ensure alertness and check logs.
• Liaise with agency partners supporting shelter operations (security, hospitality).
• Submit end-of-shift reports detailing incidents, discrepancies and coaching.
• Provide administrative supervision to assigned Shelter Monitors (direct reports).
• Track training progress and assist in scheduling trainings.
• Lead performance management, hiring and onboarding in coordination with HR.
