Job summary

Roof Above seeks a Director of Shelter Operations to oversee three shelters serving over 500 single adult men nightly. You will supervise Shelter Managers, manage coverage, and develop shelter policy under the VP of Shelters.

The role requires strong leadership, crisis-management skills, and knowledge of trauma-informed care. Expect collaboration with HR, volunteers, and multiple campus locations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in human services, public administration, or related field.
• Experience leading shelter operations or similar housing services.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and person-centered approaches.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of three shelters serving 500+ adults nightly.
• Schedule staffing across all shifts and supervise Shelter Managers.
• Lead recruitment, training, and onboarding of staff.
• Develop and implement shelter policies; adapt as needed.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and proper incident investigations.
• Collaborate with Human Resources and volunteers.
