Job summary

Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking an experienced, high-level operational leader to serve as the Assistant Director for Individual Shelter Programs & Outreach in Springfield, MA.

This Senior Leadership Team role oversees the adult shelter, housing, and outreach operations, staff supervision, care management, and contract compliance. The successful candidate will guide Program Managers and Supervisors, embody Housing First, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care principles, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
• 3+ years supervisory experience in shelter, housing, or human services operations.
• Experience in secure or residential settings and knowledge of Housing First models.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contract obligations, daily operations, and service delivery across programs.
• Provide direct supervision and guidance to Program Managers and Supervisors.
• Lead crisis management, risk protocols, and day-to-day emergency management.
• Serve as the contact for resident complaints and program investigations.
• Strengthen community and funder engagement; represent the program when needed.
• Coordinate records, staffing, and division-wide training plans.
